Come join YUM Chefs as a Summer Camp Counselor!
YUM Chefs is a non-profit culinary school based in San Francisco’s Mission District. In addition to the hands-on, from scratch cooking experiences offered year round, we also run week-long cooking camp sessions all summer. We are looking to hire several enthusiastic, food-positive, and adventurous counselors for Summer 2018. Counselors will work closely with Camp Director and Assistant Director in executing all aspects of Summer Camp. While a majority of our summer days are spent in the kitchen, YUM Chefs campers also enjoy arts and crafts, outdoor play time, games, and work time in the garden.
An ideal candidate will answer yes to all the following questions:

Can you think on your toes and easily adapt to changes?
Do you have experience working with children?
Are you outgoing, detail oriented, and creative?
Assisting with cooking prep per instruction of Summer Camp Director
Overseeing a group of 3-6 students (ages 5-15) as they prepare food
Maintaining a safe, sanitary, and food-positive atmosphere
Leading activities, manage recess and down time, have games and songs at the ready
Attending to the needs of a varied group of children
Whole summer availability (June - August)
Experience with children and/or childcare
ServSafe Certification (current)
CPR/First Aid Certification (current)
Negative TB test (within 1 year)
Professional culinary background
Experience as a summer camp counselor OR in children’s education
Working knowledge of common produce in the kitchen and garden
Compensation is $15/hour
Days off are Saturday and Sunday, with a weeklong break July 2nd to 6th
Schedule is Monday thru Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Please note that these times are somewhat variable.
